2 days to go

grey_pants_green_shirt_gold_tieI was going to surprise Sarah at the airport, but I blew it. Either way, I’m taking Thursday off, and it will be well-deserved.

The rosiness of in the face here is indicative of the windchill at…I dunno, 30km/h or so on my bike at home at night.

Dudswise: I’d say I’m coming into my own here. Went naturel on the hair today due to the helmet wearings. Probably won’t tomorrow as it’s kind of an important day with a pretty big presentation in front of a critical audience – I’ll need the extra hair goop again. Fortunately, I keep a stash at work right next to my emergency deodorant.

Gosh, this is like the Cheesecake of the Day Calendar on the Web.

Each day it gets yummier and yummier.

    … errrr…. don’t be freaked out by that :-)

How’d you ‘blow it’ with Sarah’s surprise?

  • Sarah says:

He forwarded an e-mail to me in which he told his friend about his plan to surprise me. I hope you’re still going to come though, chief.

@Adam: We may have peaked. I’ve got one tie left I’ve been saving for today, and it’ll be black on a yellowish dress shirt. Not real exiting, I guess, but I may surprise you, or me, or the people in my meeting expecting me to show up in my usual dockers and pseudo-Oxford, free of neckwear.

@Sarah: yeah. I was thinking about AirportLiner. Robin at work recommended a rental car since we’d be purchasing at least 2 AirportLiner trips and it seemed costworthy to him. But here’s the thing about a rental car: people who own a car never remember that we don’t get the corporate rate on car insurance on rental cars for personal use (if we still want to be insured in case we actually need it) – probably because their own car insurance would cover them in that case. And even I have drunk the Snow Tires Kool-Aid® after living here for almost four years now (extra €15!). And there’s gas. So I think we’ll be training it.

  • Dude, your pictures are cracking me up. See you Saturday!

Hi there… sorry but I just could not help noticing your “Ausweis” on this pic… I have the same “debranded” one so I guess we work at the same place. I just started reading these blogs (after 14 yrs of living in or around the Rbgb area) and I just HAD to respond to this… Anyway, you both are doing a great job with this blog and I hope to read more in the future.
And uhhh maybe see you around work. ;O)

    @Alison Wierl

    Glad you’re enjoying the blog!

uhhh maybe see you around work.

I guess you’ve got an unfair advantage on me there— but not for about 3 weeks — vacation tomorrow (ich liebe die deutsche Einheit), then a business trip to a couple Romanian locations.

I have the same “debranded” one

. Don’t you feel like a schmoe walking around with a name tag like that? We’re coming up on a year here since The Big Purchase — you’d think they’d roll out new ones by now. Got yours (re-)coded for the Casino?
