Care packages?

We don’t need this stuff, per se. But if you’re feeling generous…

  • Graham cracker CRUMBS (whole crackers are nice, but they get demolished in transit)
  • Men’s deodorant — any brand, any scent, as long as it’s deodorant and **not antiperspirant** please
  • cans Ro-Tel diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • cans Old El Paso chopped green chilies
  • Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • GooGone
  • One bottle Smokestack barbeque sauce
  • Bisquick (a big box please)
  • Butter-flavored Crisco
  • Craisins (dried, sweetened cranberries)
  • Arrested Development, Season Two, on DVD.
  • Celery seed
  • Costco-sized (24 oz.) McCormick taco seasoning
  • Clabber Girl baking powder
  • Minced dried onions
  • 3 or 4 cans of Campbell’s cream of chicken soups

Contact us for the best shipping/bartering options. And thank you for thinking of us!!

    Hello Cliff & Sarah,

I would be willing to get some of the things on your wish list if you could find me the following:

The candy of my youth spent in Germany sour sticks or ‘Brause-Stäbchen’. You can go the websites listed below to see what I am talking about for those who don’t know. I found two sites for them. I have written to both companies so I can buy them but have received no response. The websites are as follows:

    http://www.sadex.de/index.htm

    http://www.ahoj-brause.de/

There is also a store (with a website) here in the Dallas area who has them, but really doesn’t because I went there. They said because it is too hot right now, they are not in stock. The site for them is as follows:

    http://www.germandeli.com/sabrstor15bo.html

I have this on my wish list on my BC bookshelf/profile page and on the forum for the holiday wish list.

    Let me know, OK?

    Thanks,

    Sheila

    Hello Sheila,

I’ve seen Ahoj Brause around here and am pretty sure that it’s available year-round. People in my age group fondly recall it from their youth and get excited about the prospect of making boozy Kool-Aid with it now (probably with vodka or something).

We ought to be able to provide some for you. When we find a reliable source (not before Monday, since today is a holiday and everything’s closed on Sundays) we’ll email you and finalize the logistics.

    Howdy Cliff & Sarah!
I received your package of goodies yesterday. I had such a wonderful time sharing the packets with my adult kids and my almost one year old grandson. Thank you for sending them and helping me to relive a joyful time from my days in Germany.

Big Texas Hugs to you both!

    Sheila

    Hello Sheila,

I sent the following email to you on December 2, but I have not yet heard back from you, so I assume it hasn’t arrived:

    Hello Sheila,

    Wow! THANK YOU!

We were amazed when we got the packages out of the P.O. Box-like thing this evening on our first full day back in town from a birthday visit for me to Paris. Let us know when you start running low on Ahoj-Brause or anything else we can supply to you from over here.

We’re tickled. And itchin’ to start cooking. And smell good during it. :-)

    Cliff and Sarah,

I just found your page while trying to surf the internet to find a place where I can get the Sadex Brause candies. My wife and I were vacationing in Austria a few years ago and we loved this candy. We’ve been looking here in the US for several years now and came across two websites that seem to have sold Sadex candies in the past, but they never seem to have them available anymore. We did buy some of the Ahoj from one of those places, but they were nowhere near as good as the Sadex ones. if you are still interested in some of the products on your list, or any other ones, please let me know and maybe we can work out a trade.

I see that you are going to Brugge in October. Will this be your first time there? My wife and I were there a few years back and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, most of our film from that part of our trip was destroyed (yes, we were still taking photos on film at that time). We also stayed in a cute town called Leuven.

    David

    Hello David K,

Hmm — never heard of Sadex! I think we’re pretty well-stocked at the moment, but thanks for the offer.

  7. Matt K says:

Is David K really David Kaye? or is it a different David K?

  8. Matt K says:

OK, sorry David K…disregard previous email…just saw something to tip me off that you’re not David Kaye.

    Hi Cliff & Sarah,

I am doing OK but I am a procrastinator as far a returning/replying to emails so please forgive me. I am doing good on the soursticks. I have a few left and share them with my grandson all the time. He loves them as much as I do.

Do you need anything off your care package list? Let me know!

Hugs from Texas by way of Branson (vacation),

    Sheila

We’ll make sure the Ahoj-Brause levels don’t drop into the critical zone. Is there anything else we can send you? Perhaps some mustard or chocolate?

  11. Sheila says:

Thank you! for keeping the levels from getting critical. No mustard but chocolate is always good. Saw you are planning trips to Brugge and Edinburgh – have a wonderful time and keep safe!

  12. Sheila says:

My critical levels are restored!!! Thank you so much Cliff & Sarah! Your package arrived today safe & sound. You can never go wrong with chocolate – I have never seen the brand you sent before and can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sending the sour-sticks & I will be taking them to San Antonio to share with the rest of my family (6 brothers, 1 sister, & loads of nieces and nephews) when I go later this week to celebrate my mom’s 74th birthday.

    Hugs from Texas!

    Sheila
