Ring of Beara

We arrived in Kenmare in County Kerry yesterday at our lovely B&B and promptly set off on the road along parts of the Ring of Beara.

We saw a lot more sheep than people.

Here are all the photos we took from our little ring around Kerry (with dips into County Cork). Today: we’re braving the rain to head up to the Northwest Coast to explore the Cliffs of Moher.

Wow, all those blue skies!! I’m so jealous!
Man, I want to move to Ireland. It’s so gorgeous.

Yesterday was our rain-out day. We tried to hit the Cliffs of Moher, but it was absolutely pointless. Details to follow in a separate post. Fortunately, it worked out much better today.

Stunning! Heidelbergen just went to Ireland, too, right? Did you compare notes before you went?

@CNH: The weather was extraordinarily cooperative. I mused on the idea of moving there, but Cliff and I were both pretty happy to get back home.

@NWY: They gave some tips at the WEBMU – mostly “Don’t be surprised when you’re wet and muddy.” But we planned very different trips, too. Theirs covered a lot more ground than did ours – they were traveling from one side of the country to the other and staying somewhere new almost every night. We had a list of possible activities for each day and explored them from a base (first Cork City, then Kenmare). Our goal was to get a taste of the Southwest and I think we achieved that.
