Welcome to November

Today seems like a good day for cider mill doughnuts, grilled cheese sandwiches, and tomato soup. U2’s “One,” covered by Johnny Cash, fits in here well, too.[audio:http://www.amazon.com/gp/dmusic/media/log_action.mp3/ref=?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003ZZMPRS&TYPE=DigitalMusicSampleStream&CustomerID=&URL=http%3A%2F%2Famazonm-113.vo.llnwd.net%2Fs%2Fd4%2F101628%2F101628618%2F217949113_S64.mp3%3Fmarketplace%3D1%26e%3D1320144438%26h%3Dd4d707c4d9a81f263c4860afe01a6b5a&qid=1320140723&sr=8-1]

Those are very pretty fall colors. I ought to go out and take some pictures of it while it lasts.

I am listening to Johnny Cash as I read this! Beautiful pictures!
Not sure if you guys are into Plaid, but their latest album feels very fall-ish to me.

I have no idea what a cider mill donut is, but I think I want one.

tqe | Adam: Yes, this season sure feels fleeting. Carpe diem!

CNH: Thanks. Checked on Plaid on Pandora.com (not sure which album that was), and it was good, but almost too relaxing.

Homemade apple cider doughnutsFrau: I’m glad you asked. Really. Because when I looked them up on wikipedia, I got some recipe ideas, courtesy of the owner of this image. http://megan-deliciousdishings.blogspot.com/2010/10/best-apple-cider-doughnuts-and-doughnut.html

Hmm, never thought of Plaid as relaxing; interesting new perspective! :)

      Oh… my… god.

Great photos!!! Are these take with the micro 4/3? Autumn is my favourite season, as we just came back from a walk from the woods nearby. The colours were striking!

Yes, I took them with my Olympus PEN E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds format camera (same one I used in Cologne). I set the aspect ratio to 16:9 (4:3 is standard) and did many or all of those shots in manual mode with a tripod, since the light today was pretty lousy and I needed long exposure times.

I’m on the lookout for a faster lens — à la Schnitzelbahn and ResidentEvil‘s Mann, or even something old and used with an appropriate adapter.

I discovered my dad’s old Minolta 28mm ƒ/1.7 lens got donated to a worthy cause. I probably could have used it with my PEN with one of these.

  6. Fall looks very beautiful! Love all the great colors that come with the change of season. Not sure I fully appreciate the cold weather but I do like the colors. OK those donuts look delicious. . . yummy!

Oh, the smells of fall leaves on the ground, fermenting apples underfoot and cider mill doughnut grease: that’s a Michigan autumn Saturday olfactory cornucopia! It doesn’t sound so wonderful but it really can’t evoke anything but the poignant happiness of one season’s bounty bowing out to the next one’s beauty. Your pictures really captured the colors!

Your photos are just gorgeous, especially the one overlooking the river. Just so beautiful. I really love fall and all the wonderful colours.
Now that I’ve found out what a cider donut is, I really want one. I guess it’s too much to ask that one could find them in Germany.

Wonderful Pictures! I am inspired to go out to take some of my own.

Beautiful pics! I’m from Boston and now I’m in Nuremberg and the leaves are pretty here but nothing nearly as pretty as your pics. As for the cider mill donuts and hot apple cider poured into little gourds and served with a cinnamon stick, I miss it :-( Agghhhh. Thanks for sharing your fall with us.

Debbie, Mom, Riayn, krishwala, Ellie: Thanks!

We’re off on another trip today; stay tuned to see how the season change is happening in our destination (if it’s still happening and not already over and done with).

What's your take on it?
