Recap: November to Yesterday

Time is flying.

Dang. Not yet a quarter into it, and this year is flying by already. After our inconvenient-but-still-lovely Mallorcan long weekend last year, we returned to Regensburg to get to work on our new digs. We’ve learned a lot about wiring and installing ceiling lamps, and options for furniture, and some life lessons about paint contractors.1

Let’s see, what’s been going on?

Christmas came and went.

The usual stuff: some fair food, handicrafts (if you’re lucky), Glühwein. We got our first visitors to the new digs in this period.

Weihnachten beim Alten Rathaus
Romantischer Weihnachtsmarkt — outside the courtyard
Romantischer Weihnachtsmarkt — inside the courtyard

We spent a bit more time at the Romantischer Weihnachtsmarkt outside the courtyard, as opposed to in the courtyard and spotted some alpacas and a Georgian food stand (both new to us). We’ve been waiting, patiently and looking around online for the Georgian restaurant in Metropolitan Regensburg to appear. Those Khinkali were mouth-wateringbrothening.

NYE

We had hoped for a quiet evening at home, just the two of us in our new place.

That was about 50% correct. I guess we’ve got a nice place for an NYE party next year.

Bridge Update

Construction is still trudging along, with the pavillion set up in the middle section of the bridge — the last section needing work. We moved into a nice, bright, new, cheerful apartment in October, but these2) months were some dark times.

Springy Spring is Springy

Finally, I can sometimes start and finish my workday without needing the lights on my bike. This depends partially on the long hours under my new assignments and the impending shift to MESZ3. Expect more Frühjahrsmüdigkeit4 as a result of that.

Well, for heavens’ sake. I’m glad for the update. I figured you might surface sooner or later, and here you are. Time does seem to be flying, doesn’t it? I know we’re almost to that daylight saving time ourselves, but I’m not sure when it happens. It can’t be long, because I remember reading that it comes before the spring equinox, and we’re nearly there.

Those fireworks are great. The best part about being able to see them from home is you don’t have to drive (or walk, or bicycle) anywhere. They tell me Houston’s are superb, but there’s no way in the world I’d involve myself in that traffic.

    Merry New St. Paddy’s Day!

      Hi shoreacres,

You know how it is with moving. You’re doing a bunch of domestic minutiae that you can’t imagine anyone else will find interesting. And then, POOF, it’s March.

What's your take on it?
